At Teys, our commitment to excellence in animal welfare and operational innovation continues to drive investment across our feedlot network. The recent addition of new facilities at Jindalee Feedlot in New South Wales, located about one hour’s drive from Wagga Wagga, is a practical example of this vision in action.
New Sheds – Comfort, Care, and Cattle Performance at the Forefront
The installation of state-of-the-art purpose-built sheds at Jindalee marks a major step forward in animal welfare. The sheds measure 36 metres wide and vary in length from 150m to 400m end-to-end. These structures not only provide shade and shelter but also create a controlled environment that delivers year-round benefits for cattle on feed:
- Temperature Regulation: The sheds help maintain a more stable climate, reducing heat stress during summer and providing protection from rain and wet pens in winter. This means cattle experience less environmental stress, which is critical for health and performance.
- Improved Animal Comfort: By shielding cattle from extreme weather, shedding reduces the risk of heat load, and the impacts of wet pens. Comfortable cattle are more likely to eat consistently, which supports optimal growth and wellbeing.
- Better Feed Efficiency: When cattle are not expending energy to cope with heat or cold, more of their intake goes towards weight gain rather than thermoregulation. This can translate into improved feed conversion and productivity.
- Enhanced Health Outcomes: A cleaner, drier environment lowers the risk of respiratory problems and other health challenges.
- Consistent Performance: With less seasonal variability, shedding can support predictable growth rates and overall consistency and improvement in feedlot performance.
These benefits combine to now make Jindalee a standout feedlot facility in Australia – where animal welfare and operational efficiency go hand in hand.

New Feed Mill and Stables – Built for Excellence
The project also includes a newly constructed feed mill, designed from the ground up to deliver the highest standards in grain processing and feed preparation efficiency. From grain delivery and storage to milling and mixing, every step is supported by cutting-edge infrastructure.
The upgrade increases the feedlot’s storage with new silos, as well as two new 24 X 56 steam flaking mills that allow 22 metric tonnes an hour providing significant efficiencies over the former configuration. This guarantees superior nutrition for cattle and reinforces Teys’ reputation for quality and consistency.
Equally important, brand-new horse stables for staff horses have been built to provide a safe, functional space for those who dedicate their careers to animal care. For stockmen and women, mill team, maintenance crew, and penriders, Jindalee now offers a new purpose built and well-equipped state of the art workplace that has been designed with their needs in mind.

Teamwork, Community and Commitment
Shane Bullock, GM Operations for Jindalee Feedlot said “This project demonstrates Teys’ strong support for the feedlot industry through significant capital investment. It’s about infrastructure and about creating the best possible environment for cattle and people alike.”
“As Jindalee adds new facilities, our team is proud of their site and have a strong shared purpose. Every member of the Jindalee crew works together to ensure the best care for cattle and the highest standards of operation. It’s this balance of people and place that makes Jindalee not just a feedlot, but a great place to work,” Shane said.
Jindalee joins Teys’ other feedlots – Charlton in Victoria and Condamine in Queensland – in strengthening the Teys grain-fed supply chain. Together, these facilities underpin our commitment to delivering premium beef products to customers across Australia and beyond.
